- 5 to 6 cups chocolate or white bread, cut in 1-inch cubes <-- 8pcs of gardenia & toast it
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 cups whole milk <-- 1/2cup heavy cream + 1 1/2cup milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar <-- 2tbs of brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt <-- 1tbs of salted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2-1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Optional: whipped cream for garnish <-- neii.. nil.
- Preheat 350 degrees F. Place bread in a buttered 9 x 9-inch baking pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Set aside.
- Place eggs, milk, sugar, salt, vanilla, cocoa and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Whisk to combine.
- Pour over bread and mix gently. Let sit for 15 minutes.<-- i prefer it to be a bit crunchy.. so it went off into the oven immediately. plus am pressed for time ;)
- Bake for 40 minutes until firm but not dry. <-- i bake for 25mins only. just nice for me ;)
- Serve warm or at room temperature. Garnish with whipped cream if desired. Yield: 8 servings.
